Grain Quality Inspection Software
August 1, 2014 – November 1, 2017
Machine that performs Quality analysis of grains using multi-view images acquired of individual grain. Machine segregates the grains into different categories of defects and accepts. Problem statement: Build Software system that performs real time multi-class classification of grains by processing one or more images of a given grain. Software to pass the classification results to PLC of the machine Techniques and concepts incorporated/explored: Deep Convolutional Neural networks (CNN). Feature Engineering. Segmentation of touching grains: Gap filling algorithm, watershed based segmentation. Multi-threading, Atomic and mutex lock based synchronisation , custom Thread safe FIFO queues Frameworks: C++11, OpenCV and Boost in Visual Studio 2015, Python 2.7, Keras with Theano Backend, Scikit Learn, Baumer Camera API Contribution to project: - Involved in the product development activities from its concept inception to commissioning the machine at customer location - Participated in requirement analysis for the entire product with expert Machine design team - Active involvement and collaboration with Mechanical and Controls Design teams during Machine design phase - Responsible for Image processing and decision making Software System design: High level design and Low level design - Designed and Implemented: 1. Efficient multi-threading workflow in C++. Synchronisation and information sharing between threads implemented using custom data structures that were protected by Atomic variables. Image acquisition, processing and result sharing were done in parallel 2. Pre-processing algorithms for extracting the grain ROI 3. Python Embedding in multi-threaded C++ application 4. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model training and prediction in Python using Keras with Theano backend 5. TCP socket communication with PLC from C++ application for data exchange 6. Real-time image processing and classification using CNN based model: 150ms soft deadline
Soccer Robots
May 1, 2014 – June 1, 2014
We worked on Soccer Robots for our final year undergraduate project. We built 4 robots that were capable of navigating on the field, push a cube from one place to the desired goal position in a complete autonomous fashion. The commands to the robots was given after processing the continuous images of the arena, where each robot was colour coded for identity, images streamed to local PC from a over head mobile camera.

Participated in robotics contest conducted in many colleges across bangalore and in IIT,Kharagpur. Its based on line following and Image Processing Robots.
Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's career progression within a single large organization (HP) for a significant period demonstrates loyalty and ability to thrive in a corporate environment. The projects, especially 'Grain Quality Inspection Software', show a strong inclination towards practical, real-world problem-solving using advanced AI/ML techniques. The target role 'Data Analyst' might be a slight mismatch given the candidate's 'Principal Architect' and 'Expert Data Scientist' roles, which suggest a more senior, strategic, and hands-on ML/AI engineering profile rather than pure data analysis. The breadth of skills is strong in AI/ML, but less explicit in traditional data analysis tools (e.g., advanced SQL, BI tools, specific data warehousing knowledge).
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's project descriptions indicate strong problem-solving abilities, a proactive approach to product development from concept to commissioning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams (Mechanical, Controls Design). The progression through various roles at HP suggests adaptability and continuous learning. However, direct assessment of communication, logical reasoning, stress handling, and team collaboration is not possible without the psychometric and English test results.
