Our project is a smart attendance tracking system that leverages face recognition technology to automate the process of marking attendance in real time. Let me break down the core components and technical aspects of the project. 1. System Overview At a high level, the system is divided into two major modules: Registration & Training Module Attendance Marking Module Both modules are integrated into a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) built with Tkinter. We use OpenCV for video capture, MTCNN for reliable face detection, and OpenCV’s LBPH (Local Binary Patterns Histogram) algorithm for face recognition. 2. Registration & Training Module User Input and Data Capture: When a new student registers, the GUI prompts for their ID and Name via Tkinter entry fields.
