Predicting-Carbon-Export-Potential
September 22, 2022 – March 24, 2023
Remote sensor algorithms: Predicting marine exopolymer concentrations and carbon sequestration potential over large spatial scales. Marine exopolymers are an important element in global carbon cycle as they are critical for the sequestraion of carbon dioxide in the ocean. Furthermore, they are an important substance in the desalination industry as they frequently clog reverse osmosis filters critical for efficient desalination. As such, it is important to develop models that can accurately predict marine expolymer concentrations. This project creates a series of predictive models to estimate the concentrations of exopolymers at the oceans surface from a suite of commomly reported variables on both remote sensors and satellites. Overall, the models are quite accurate when tested on validation data from marine surfaces with an accuracy of >81% and mean error of ~10 micrograms. The models do not appear to be overfit, or violate any necessary assumptions. This project is a completely novel

September 21, 2022 – September 28, 2022
A repository with code and data files aimed at quantifying, visualizing and identifying statistical trends in small cell marine carbon uptake. Statistical techniques include multivariate analysis (i.e. Principal Component Analysis, Analysis of Variance) and localized regression modelling. Data was obtained from in-situ 13-C and 15-N labeled isotopic experiments, over a 4-year period.

View ProjectCultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's projects show a strong inclination towards data science, statistical analysis, and machine learning, which aligns well with a Data Scientist role. The diversity of applications, from environmental science to finance, indicates adaptability and a broad interest in problem-solving. However, the projects are all personal, and there is no information on collaborative work or professional experience, which limits the assessment of cultural fit within a team or corporate environment.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's project descriptions indicate an ability to work on complex, research-oriented problems independently. The focus on detailed statistical analysis and model validation suggests a methodical and analytical approach. However, without specific psychometric or English test scores, it is difficult to assess communication clarity, work attitude, stress handling, or team collaboration skills.
