VP of AI at Sigma | Hiring in SF & NY
I'm currently the VP of AI at Sigma Computing. I previously led AI/ML engineering, research and product teams at Scale AI, Unity and EA. In those roles, I had the unique opportunity to build multiple new AI/ML products and infrastructure ranging from recommendation engines, to reinforcement learning systems that learn to play games and infrastructure for training and deploying foundation models. I've also advised numerous VC firms and technology startups through my own AI/ML consultancy. I hold 15 patents, published 10 papers, and organized workshops at AAAI and NeurIPS. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from UMass Amherst, specializing in machine learning.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a strong background in AI/ML leadership and research, which aligns with innovative and data-driven cultures. However, the target role is 'Data Analyst', which is a significant shift from their current and past senior leadership and research-focused AI/ML roles. While the candidate possesses strong analytical skills from their ML background, the specific day-to-day responsibilities and scope of a Data Analyst role might be a mismatch for someone with VP/Director-level experience in AI/ML. The breadth of skills is high in AI/ML, but the direct relevance to a dedicated Data Analyst role (e.g., specific BI tools, advanced SQL for reporting, dashboarding) is not explicitly detailed in the resume. The project diversity is strong within AI/ML, but less so for traditional data analysis tasks.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's extensive leadership experience suggests strong communication, team collaboration, and strategic thinking. Roles as Founder and VP indicate entrepreneurial drive and high-level decision-making capabilities. The academic background as a Teaching Assistant also points to strong explanatory and mentorship skills. The descriptions of leading diverse teams (engineering, research, product, technical artists) demonstrate operational fit for complex, cross-functional environments.
