Research Scientist TL @Waymo | Multimodal Foundational Models | Stanford
I am excited about pushing the boundaries of what is possible with AGI today and in achieving ASI in the future, and the transformative role it plays in improving all facets of human life in the real world. I am actively working on multi-modal large scale foundational models (Gemini) to deliver impact of AGI to problems beyond language on embodied AI domains like autonomous vehicles. I am currently a tech lead at Waymo pioneering foundational models that are scaling multimodal autoregressive models (world modeling), improving motion forecasting, planning and safety of real world autonomous vehicles. Previously I was the tech lead for Camera based perception stack at Zoox(Amazon), and before that I was a graduate student researcher at Stanford University.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a strong background in cutting-edge AI research and development, primarily within the autonomous vehicle domain. Their experience at Waymo and Zoox, coupled with academic research at Stanford and Mila, demonstrates a drive for innovation and a strong research-oriented mindset. While the target role is 'Data Analyst', the candidate's profile is heavily skewed towards advanced AI/ML research and engineering. This suggests a potential mismatch in the specific day-to-day responsibilities and focus, as a Data Analyst role typically involves more data manipulation, statistical analysis, reporting, and dashboarding, rather than foundational model development or computer vision research. The breadth of skills is high within AI/ML, but less so in traditional data analysis tools and methodologies, which might impact cultural fit for a pure data analyst team.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience as a Tech Lead and their involvement in building and growing teams at Zoox suggest strong leadership and collaboration skills. Their work on complex, multi-disciplinary projects implies excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking. The numerous publications and patents indicate a proactive and innovative mindset. However, without specific psychometric or communication test results, a direct assessment of operational fit and soft skills is limited to inferences from their professional history.
