Computer Scientist, Product Leader, Responsible Tech Scholar serving as Faculty @ Harvard; Head of AI @ Revive; All things @ the new Agents of Purpose lab!
My main focus is 3-tiered: lead as Fractional Head of AI at Revive; build my new venture, Agents of Purpose, solving what I dub the "Summer Camp Turing Test" to understand when and how to bring AI into our businesses and personal lives; and teach Product Management and Society at Harvard, integrating ethics and responsibility into product development. My journey: I'm a mission-driven computer scientist, responsible tech leader, educator, founder, board member, tech executive. With 20 years across industry, academia, non-profits, and government, my life's work is dedicated to building technology that intentionally serves humanity and assembling the multidisciplinary teams needed to make it happen. I spend as much time thinking about how technology can solve society's most pressing problems as I do considering where it falls short. Public Service: I was a founding Engineering and Product member of the U.S. Digital Service at the White House, where I helped build digital services across three Presidential administrations. I was appointed the inaugural Executive Director of the National AI Advisory Committee to guide national AI strategy, and served as Deputy Chief Technologist at the Federal Trade Commission, where my team created the agency's first Office of Technology. Academia & Industry: At Harvard, I serve on the faculty where I created and teach Product Management and Society and co-founded the Ethical Tech Group. I also served as a Senior Advisor at Mozilla, co-founding the Builders Incubator and Mozilla Responsible Computing. In industry, I've architected systems at massive scale across Google, IBM, Workday, and Harris Healthcare. Schooling: I learned to build human-centered systems from undergraduate and graduate studies in Computer Science at Georgia Tech and Supélec.
