Migrated Jio Money on-premesis systems to GCP. Automated resource provisioning using Kubernetes with zero deployment failures. Optimized costs through proactive monitoring. Project Overview: It was an old on-prem with constant downtime and it just couldn't scale when we actually needed it. Provisioning was all manual, which slowed everything down. We moved to GCP to automate the whole environment and fix the reliability issues. My Role & Contributions: • Cloud Migration: Worked with the team to migrate on-prem systems to GCP. I helped set up the core infra and ensured we had consistent environments across Dev, UAT, and Prod using Terraform. • Deployments & K8s: Assisted in containerizing apps with Docker and helped build out CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Cloud Build) for our GKE clusters. • Scaling & Performance: Focused on optimizing Cloud Run and BigQuery configs. We had to handle some pretty heavy 15-minute nightly processing peaks, so I helped tune the scaling logic and HPA. • Security & IAM: Handled some of the security setup, including IAM roles, network policies, and managing encryption keys (CMEK) via Cloud KMS. • Monitoring & Cost: Helped integrate Stackdriver and Grafana for better visibility. I also spent time using GCP's cost tools to help the team right-size resources and cut down on waste. Key Roles & Responsibilities: • Cloud Architecture & Design: Architected multi-region VPCs with public/private subnets, IGWs, and NAT gateways on GCP. I designed this highly available infrastructure to guarantee uptime and fault tolerance. • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automated deployment with Terraform and Google Deployment Manager; I developed reusable templates that improved provisioning speed and reliability. • Compute & Storage: Managed Compute Engine instances, Cloud SQL instances, and Cloud Storage buckets. I fine-tuned resource allocation to maximize efficiency and performance. • Networking & Security: Configured GCP Load Balancers, Security Groups, VPC firewall rules, IAM roles, and service accounts. I implemented multi-layered security frameworks safeguarding cloud assets. • CI/CD Pipelines: Developed pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Cloud Build to automate build, test, and deployment cycles targeting GKE. I improved deployment consistency and reduced errors. • Kubernetes Orchestration: Managed containerized workloads on GKE, utilized Helm charts, Horizontal Pod Autoscaling, and zero-downtime rolling updates. I ensured app scalability and reliability. • Monitoring & Alerting: Set up monitoring using Cloud Operations Suite, Prometheus, and Grafana, enabling proactive issue detection. I created alerting and notification systems for rapid response. • Cost Optimization: Leveraged GCP Cost Management and Budgets to analyze usage and cut unnecessary expenses. I continuously optimized the cloud footprint to maintain cost-effectiveness.

Shortly after joining In Technet Limited as a Junior DevOps Engineer, worked closely in development and UAT (testing) environments. With the first project, we have notice with our client that the engineering teams were only active during IST business hours. This was causing a significant, unnecessary spike in the monthly GCP bill. What I have Done with this project: • The "Audit": I started by tagging all resources in our non-prod projects to see what was actually being used. I found about 40% of our GKE nodes were sitting idle overnight. • The Script: I wrote a Python script that used the Google Cloud SDK to identify "Dev" and "Test" labeled resources. I then set up a Cloud Function to trigger a "Scale-to-Zero" command for GKE node pools at 8:00 PM IST. • The Automation: I used Terraform to deploy a Cloud Scheduler job that kicked off the function every weekday. I also made sure it scaled everything back up by 8:00 AM so the devs didn't have any downtime when they started work. • The "Safety" Catch: I integrated a manual override in the script so if a developer was working late, they could hit a simple URL to keep their environment alive for an extra 4 hours.
