sportAlert
September 1, 2013 – May 1, 2014
SportALERT is an application designed by inLab FIB, Barcelona School of Informatics’ innovation and research laboratory. The aim of the app is to monitor the movement of athletes through its smartphone location. The application is able to detect unplanned stoppages, and if so, activate an alarm. In case that the athlete does not stop the alarm, a message with your location is sent to the previously established contacts. The application development is based on inLab FIB’s experience in the creation of sport tracking applications. The sportALERT application has been specially designed for people who practise sports alone without other people, thus, with sportALERT is much easier to contact family and/or friends if any incident happens during the sport activity. SportALERT monitors the movement of the athlete using the location of the smartphone. The application trigs an alarm if the location has not changed within a certain period of time. That period of time can be configured by the user; this way the application adapts to the different sports profiles. The application also allows customizing its behaviour by defining when the SMS message must be sent or which of the defined contacts will also receive the athlete’s location in the message. Furthermore, sportALERT has a quick button to call emergency services for help immediately. As this button calls the emergency number, it includes a protection against accidental activations.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project portfolio shows a strong inclination towards mobile application development, which directly aligns with the 'Android Developer' target role. The diversity of personal projects, including those with social impact and academic collaborations, suggests a proactive and engaged individual. However, the professional experience, while extensive in software engineering, does not explicitly detail Android-specific roles or technologies, which could be a gap for a dedicated Android Developer position. The breadth of skills across different technologies (PHP, Erlang, React, Python) indicates adaptability, but also a potential lack of deep specialization in the Android ecosystem within professional roles.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's project descriptions suggest an ability to work on diverse projects with social impact (EsclaTIC, GerApp, Bynapp). Experience in team environments and agile practices indicates a collaborative mindset. The role at Barcelona Supercomputing Center involved providing technical support, suggesting problem-solving and communication skills. However, without specific psychometric test results, a detailed assessment of work attitude, stress handling, and team collaboration is limited.
