Ex-CTO of Blinkit & VC @ Sequoia India + Alphawave. Now on a mission to make the Duolingo of singing with AI
Me: A skinny 13 year old kid in Oakland. I wanted to be popular, but I spent most of time hacking into BBSs with a 14.4k modem. Like many nerdy teenage boys before me, I tried playing guitar. It didn’t work, but I got pretty good at guitar. I tried to sing along too. More than anything I wanted to be a singer. But I sucked. I thought I was just (not) born with it. 25 years later, I was fooling around covering this Johnny Cash song, “Give My Love to Rose.” I was really hamming it up. And somehow, it kinda sounded good. I figured, “hey, I’m probably dying of COVID anyway, so why not post it on Instagram?” Shockingly, I got tons of positive comments, even from my musician friends. A couple things happened from singing that one song: 1. I learned what kind of songs and range made sense. 2. More importantly, I developed confidence. Confidence to start taking vocal lessons; confidence to try and get feedback from others; I learned to increase my range and how to interpret songs to fit my vocal characteristics. I won’t be winning any Grammys now, but I write songs and I've performed a few times. I didn’t have a “bad voice” any more than I have a “bad guitar”, I just hadn’t trained it. **The songscape:** 60% of people sing in the shower, or the car or the kitchen, but only ~15% of them feel they are competent singers and 75% of people believe (incorrectly) that singing is an innate trait rather than a learned skill. If everybody wants to sing well, and it is achievable, what is causing the gap? 1. People are scared to sing in front of others 2. The instrument is inside - you need feedback which is personalized to fix it. 3. They are trying to copy the wrong voices We’re here to solve this. SingOneSong will create one hundred million new singers in the next 5 years using AI. How? * Fun and bitesized (like Duolingo) * Actionable advice

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a diverse background spanning startup co-founding, venture capital, and established tech companies. Their involvement in community building (Drupal community, Alpha Wave Tech community) and social initiatives (Prison Book Project Inc) suggests a collaborative and socially conscious individual. However, the target role is 'Frontend Developer', which is a significant shift from their recent executive and strategic roles. While there is early career mention of front-end engineering, the majority of their experience is in leadership, management, and investment, which may not align directly with a hands-on individual contributor frontend role. This could indicate a potential mismatch in expectations or a desire for a significant career pivot.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong leadership, strategic thinking, and team-building capabilities through their various CTO and Director roles. Their experience in managing large teams and driving organizational change (e.g., OKR adoption, attrition reduction) indicates strong operational fit for senior leadership. The career breaks suggest a focus on personal growth and exploration, which could indicate adaptability and self-direction.
