Iain White

With over 20 years of experience in software engineering, design, and development, I am an IoT Architect at Intelligent Growth Solutions (IGS), a leading provider of smart solutions for indoor farming and agriculture. I joined IGS in 2021 as a Software Architect, and within a year, I was promoted to lead the IoT team, responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the software architecture and infrastructure for the IGS platform, which integrates sensors, actuators, data, and analytics to optimise crop growth and yield. I have successfully led and delivered multiple projects, such as the development of a cloud and edge IoT platform, the introduction of an in-house embedded capability, and the implementation of security and scalability features. I have also collaborated with other teams, such as hardware, data science, and product development, to provide innovative and customer-focused solutions. I have a strong background in software engineering and design, with a MEng in Computer and Electronic Systems from the University of Strathclyde, and skills in various programming languages, frameworks, and tools, such as C#, Java, Python, .NET, Azure and MQTT. I am passionate about IoT and its potential to transform agriculture and create a more sustainable and efficient food system. I am driven by the mission of IGS to enable farmers to grow more with less, and I am eager to contribute to the company's growth and innovation. I am also committed to learning new skills and technologies, and to sharing my knowledge and experience with my colleagues and the wider IoT community.
