Consumer Business Leader@NeoSapien, Ex-Apna, ex-Headfone, Ex-Ather Energy, Ex-Entrepreneur (Lumos, Nasscom Emerge 50), IIT Madras CS grad
Consumer Leader with a base in Product Marketing specializing in 0 to 1 initiatives and new business launches. With 15 years of experience in startups, I've held pivotal roles as a Founder and Business Leader. Most recently, as an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) at Apna Jobs, I crafted community-building strategies and executed them with precision, aiding India’s largest jobs and professional networking platform. My journey includes launching new businesses within Apna’s Skilling vertical, aimed at Tier-2/Tier-3 India, where I discovered what courses can we feasibly launch to fill in the demand-supply gap, what price points and formats work for consumers, along with what courses fulfill their career aspirations. Before apna Jobs, I spearheaded the audio drama business at Headfone. At Headfone, I grew daily active users (DAU) to 150K, significantly enhancing retention by building a robust content engine. As the GM of Marketing at Ather Energy, I successfully launched the Ather 450, managed both brand and performance marketing, and built a community of over 10K passionate brand ambassadors. Prior to this, I founded Lumos, a Wearable Tech startup, where I developed smart backpacks sold in over 50 countries. My early career at Tejas Networks saw me contributing to a revenue growth of 12X. With a B.Tech in Computer Science from IITM and an MBA from IIMB, I have consistently excelled in understanding consumer insights, improving product features, and leading impactful marketing initiatives. Beyond work, I am an active parent, dedicated to my 4.5-year-old.

The Lumos ThrillSeeker - the perfect cycling Daypack!
November 1, 2014 – July 1, 2015
How do we create a compact, super-light Backpack that exceeds its peers in quality globally, and meets all the certifications required in Germany, US and Australia? This was a challenging product for us and took us 6 months to develop. The backpack went through 5 iterations, and the certifications took us 2 iterations! But finally, we launched the Lumos ThrillSeeker - perfect in every way down to the last zipper and stitch! The backpack works as your commute backpack on weekdays, and doubles up as a hydration bag for your weekend rides! With a 4000mAh replace-able battery, the Lumos ThrillSeeker ensures that you can dispose the battery off in a safe and separate manner from the rest of the bag. You can also upgrade the battery if you so desire!
The unPlug Backpack v1.0
June 1, 2013 – January 1, 2015
The unPlug Solar Backpack was our first bag - it was meant to be an ideal commute bag. We launched it with much fan-fare and sold quite well (primarily in India). Of course, we realized that we had missed a few key features, which resulted in launch of the unPlug Backpack V2.0.
Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's diverse project portfolio, including personal ventures in smart backpacks and AI-driven apps, indicates a strong innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. Their experience across various company stages (startups to established firms) and roles (CEO, Head of Strategy, Product Marketing) suggests adaptability. However, the candidate's career trajectory is heavily skewed towards business, marketing, and product leadership, which may not align directly with a hands-on 'Software Engineer' role. While they mention using 'AI code' for personal projects, the depth of their software engineering contribution is not explicitly detailed, which could be a cultural fit challenge for a purely technical role.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate demonstrates strong leadership, strategic thinking, and an entrepreneurial drive. Their experience in building and scaling businesses, managing cross-functional teams, and driving growth initiatives suggests a proactive and results-oriented operational fit. The career break description highlights self-directed learning and experimentation with AI tools, indicating adaptability and a willingness to explore new technologies. However, the primary focus of their career has been in business, marketing, and product management, rather than hands-on software engineering, which is the target role.
