Principal UI Architect, Agentic Factory Platform @ Fiserv
• PhD-chemist with postdoctoral experience; expertise in synthetic inorganic/organometallic chemistry and applications within biology and ligand design. • Self-taught programmer with strong background as a full stack developer (LAMP) - looking to combine the power of programming with the ubiquitous utility of mathematics and logic derived from my science background. • My long term goals include the creation of free or inexpensive web tools and educational platforms to help self-motivated individuals access information they would otherwise need to pay lots of money to obtain. My motivation is based on my belief that asymmetric access to information and informational resources is one of the contributing factors to the increasing wealth gap (between high-income Americans and low-income Americans) that plagues our society. My first completed endeavor to address this, in some small capacity, is CSSBurner (https://cssburner.com), which is a free tool to help web developers quickly and easily find errors in CSS and minify, beautify, and statistically analyze their stylesheets.

CSSBurner
June 1, 2015 – Present
CSSBurner is a rapid CSS optimization tool. Though there are some tools publicly available to parse CSS, there were none that I believed empowered the user to swiftly and easily pinpoint errors and optimization opportunities. I was so frustrated with the available tools that this provided me with the motivation to develop this mobile-friendly resource from which every developer, both casual and more serious, would benefit. In addition, I have found that statistical analysis of CSS was conspicuously absent from the available tools, so I made sure to add statistical analysis to CSSBurner's repertoire. I will continue to expand the utility of CSSBurner in two primary ways: (1) I will soon begin to release the accompanying Burner Blog, with non-obvious tips on how to optimize CSS stylesheets and (2) I am actively developing a Premium version of CSSBurner, which will aid more serious developers with parsing LESS/SASS plus provide more advanced statistical analysis (in addition to other useful features). You can subscribe to the CSSBurner Newsletter to keep up to date with all the latest developments.
The Transmetalation of Unsaturated Carbon Nucleophiles from Organoboron Compounds to the Mid to Late d-Block Metals of Relevance to Catalytic C-X Coupling Reactions (X = C, F, N, O, Pb, S, Se, Te)
December 1, 2009 – February 1, 2011
My Transmetalation Review Article titled "Transmetalation of Unsaturated Carbon Nucleophiles from Boron-Containing Species to the Mid to Late d-Block Metals of Relevance to Catalytic C−X Coupling Reactions (X = C, F, N, O, Pb, S, Se, Te)" (see Chemical Reviews, 2011 p. 1529) is an in-depth exploration of nearly fifty years of transmetalation reactions between d-block metals and organoboron compounds, especially as these reactions are relevant to organometallic synthesis and catalysis.
Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's career trajectory shows a significant shift from academic chemistry to software development, demonstrating adaptability and a strong learning curve. The personal projects like CSSBurner, Crystal Search, and W3C Module Search align well with a Frontend Developer role, showcasing initiative and practical application of skills. The experience spans both frontend and backend, indicating a broad understanding of web development, which can be beneficial for cross-functional teams. The long tenure at Morgan Stanley as a Senior UI Developer and current role as Principal UI Architect at Fiserv suggest stability and career progression in large organizations. The entrepreneurial ventures also highlight a self-starter mentality. The target role of 'Frontend Developer' aligns well with the recent experience and personal projects.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's project descriptions, especially for CSSBurner, indicate a proactive, problem-solving mindset and a drive to create tools that address perceived gaps in existing solutions. The role as 'Manager and Owner' of PhDave LLC and 'Founder' of Test Boost Incorporated suggests entrepreneurial spirit and leadership qualities. The description of leading UI architectural decisions and resolving blockers at Fiserv points to strong collaboration and mentorship potential. However, without specific psychometric test results, a deeper assessment of work attitude, stress handling, and team collaboration is not possible.
