Weta Digital - Lead Compositing Pipeline Engineer
I’ve worked in the animation/commercial industry for the last thirteen years as a developer and TD. Recently I have been working as a Senior TD for Blizzard Animation creating various tools and workflows used by lighting, surfacing, motionstory, and in-game cinematics while also supporting new and pre-existing infrastructure for relevant areas of those departments as a part of the Back-End TD team. Before that I worked at ReelFX Creative Studios in Dallas as both a Technical Supervisor and Lead TD designing and implementing various aspects of the pipeline and managing a team of up to sixteen developers and support TDs. I absolutely love problem solving and optimizing processes and workflows. Specialties: Programming (Python, C++, PyQt/PySide, Mel, MVC), Nuke, Maya, Katana, Qube, Tractor, Houdini, Linux, Shell Scripting, Pipeline Design/Development, Vim.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate has a long tenure in the entertainment industry (Weta Digital, Blizzard Entertainment, Reel FX), which suggests a cultural fit for fast-paced, project-driven environments. The roles indicate a focus on technical solutions for creative problems. However, the direct alignment with a typical 'Backend Engineer' role in a broader tech context is not explicitly clear from the provided experience descriptions, which are heavily skewed towards graphics and animation pipelines rather than general enterprise backend systems. The lack of diverse project types outside of entertainment could be a limiting factor for some cultural fits.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's career progression from Technical Director to Lead Compositing Pipeline Engineer suggests strong problem-solving, leadership, and collaboration skills. The descriptions of streamlining production and developing robust pipelines indicate an operational fit for roles requiring efficiency and system improvement. However, specific details on communication and stress handling are not available from the provided data.
