FaceCheck (Auto Attendance)
March 1, 2018 – April 1, 2018
Auto-Attendance, an attempt to automate the process of taking attendance through facial recognition from group selfies/pictures taken by teachers at the end of class. Because.....it's fun taking selfies with teachers?? An android application was made through which the students and teachers can register. Students can enroll in the courses offered by the Teachers. The teacher takes a picture and uploads it. The faces in the image are detected and recognized and the corresponding attendance for the day is updated. My Role: - Dockerizing the application. - Designing the REST APIs keeping best practices in mind. Strongly adhering to DRY. (DRY was not followed for the ml model) - Managing sessions using JWT Tokens. - Designing the database and reducing it to the third normal form. - Tweaking the Tiny Face Detector model to work according to the application. - Using Kairos API for face detection. - Making the process of detecting and recognizing the faces asynchronously using Celery. - Custom User Models. Storing images and other static assets uploaded by students and teachers.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project portfolio demonstrates a strong inclination towards building functional applications and experimenting with new technologies, which aligns with an innovative and growth-oriented culture. The diversity of personal projects, from web frameworks to real-time chat and attendance systems, shows a broad interest in backend challenges. The co-founder roles also suggest a drive for ownership and impact. However, the lack of detailed descriptions for professional experiences makes it difficult to fully assess collaboration and team-oriented contributions in a corporate setting.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's project descriptions indicate a proactive and experimental approach to problem-solving, particularly in adopting new technologies like Django Channels 2 early on. The co-founder roles suggest an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to take initiative. However, without specific assessment data, a detailed evaluation of communication, teamwork, and stress handling is not possible.
