Brewy: the social coffee machine
August 1, 2016 – Present
The physical interaction design project Brewy is a robot made from a recycled coffee machine. Brewy is able to interact with users using language processing and speech recognition. It can show emotions with the help of two eyes (OLED screens). The main purpose of Brewy is to improve the social interaction between people working or living in the same building. Brewy is able to invite others to join your coffee or tea break by sending a notification to the people currently in the building. The project is realized using a Raspberry Pi / Arduino / Android smartphone configuration.
R3D3: A receptionist robot
February 1, 2016 – July 1, 2016
As a preliminary study of the R3D3 (Rolling Receptionist Robot with a Double Dutch Dialogue) we have been working on a prototype receptionist based on the FROG (Fun Robotic Outdoor Guide) robot. This robot was able to process natural language and return a personalized answer to the user (based on environmental factors). In our research we focused on child-robot interaction. The final research was conducted in the science museum NEMO in Amsterdam.
Foodroulette: futuristic dinners
November 1, 2015 – February 1, 2016
Food & Technology is a combination often not considered. In this project we built a mobile application which can build a personalized food profile. Using this profile, the user is able to retrieve a personalized food menu shown on a touchscreen table in a restaurant (see link). The final project was exhibited at a food fair at Food Dock in Deventer (NL).
Analysis & Software Design - Project Management
February 1, 2013 – April 1, 2013
I-3 Course. Analysis & Software Design at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands) Design a new information system that replaces an existing one. The new information system uses the existing databases but has new capabilities, where most of them were required by the involved staff members and stake holders. All requirements were analyzed and the most important ones were prioritized in order to have the new system built to meet the expectations of the stakeholders and other staff.
Hole in the Wall (Processing project (Java))

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project history shows a strong inclination towards innovative, research-oriented, and user-centric projects, often involving interdisciplinary work (e.g., AI, robotics, physical interaction). This suggests a cultural fit for organizations that value innovation, R&D, and a holistic approach to product development. The experience across different companies (Triodos Bank, Essent, TNO, Navara, Chess iX) indicates adaptability to various corporate environments. However, the target role is 'iOS Developer', and while there is iOS experience, the recent 'Tech lead / Android developer' role at Triodos Bank suggests a primary focus on Android. The cultural fit for a dedicated iOS role would depend on the candidate's current interest and proficiency in iOS-specific best practices and ecosystem.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's project descriptions suggest an ability to work on diverse, innovative projects, often involving user interaction and novel technologies (e.g., robotics, AI, physical interaction design). The 'Tech lead' role at Triodos Bank indicates leadership and responsibility. The 'Studentassistant' roles suggest mentoring or support capabilities. The 'Technical Support Assistant' role implies problem-solving and customer interaction skills. Overall, the candidate appears adaptable and capable of handling varied technical and interpersonal challenges.
