Anyone can build you a website. But can they make it fast, un-hackable, handle everything, and back it with proven local marketing that actually brings in more customers? I can, it’s what I do.
I don’t just build websites. I build websites for local businesses and back them with proven online marketing strategies that actually bring in new customers. I handle the technical side, the upkeep, and the marketing strategies, so you can focus on running your business. I work closely with you—I’m local—I’m a phone call away—and honestly, I hope we end up becoming friends. You own everything, too. The goal is for you to keep your independent, not trapped in some setup that falls apart if something happens to me. I only use what actually makes sense for your business, which is why I usually DON'T use WordPress. With over a decade of development experience behind me, I know how to build websites that are actually worth having because they help drive real business.

Migrated a Gatsby site (with WordPress Backend) to WPEngine and created a new traditional WordPress theme. All behind a custom Reverse Proxy and custom CDN. Performance was a large focus of the project, and we were able to convert 1.2k+ URL's to GOOD performance in Google Console. Maintain 2 multisite installs in various (16+) languages.
Microsoft Secure Blog
March 1, 2019 – February 1, 2020
I helped out on this project by implementing our in-house Akamai configuration based on what we had done for Microsoft 365 blog. I was able to combine all the Akamai configurations and "hacks" into a single solution that we could install on this project, and hopefully future MS Blog projects and get Akamai setup quickly.
Firemon Migration
November 1, 2018 – March 1, 2019
The new re-build of the Firemon website would involve migrating a slew of content from the current Firemon website (built in a custom CMS and custom DB). I worked with Jeremy on building the initial migration framework due to the experience I have had doing migrations for Microsoft. Once the base framework was built out, Jeremy took over the rest of the migration, but used my initial framework for doing it to finish out most of the migration work.
Implementing ElasticPress & Elastic Search — InternationalLiving
October 1, 2018 – Present
Helped implement ElasticSearch and ElasticPress into their WordPress site. Since I had not had any previous experience with ElasticPress/Search I completed two learning courses and did lots of hacking at Elastic.co free trial instance. We were able to index over 17k posts on two multisite sub-sites accurately.
WDS Single Signon (WDS SSO)
June 1, 2018 – July 1, 2018
Built out an internal Google Single Signon for our company (WDS SSO). It utilizes Google to authenticate signin's but as soon as some had left the company, the removal of their Google account would result in them no longer being able to sign into our client's websites making them more secure.
Office Dev Blogs
March 1, 2018 – July 1, 2018
- Migration of all content from dev.office.com/blogs and other 3rd party blogs all done by scraping content from other sites - Support for Akamai as a proxy and buffering output so URL's are consistent with proxy URL's - Built out systems to match dynamic "Microsoft's UHF" systems with Akamai URL structures e.g. word/blogs would pull in the "Word UHF" - Lots of support for Akamai and WP Engine caching relationships (dual caching experiences) - General backend and frontend support for building out the theme and misc build work
Office Blogs Akamai Integration (Microsoft 365)
January 1, 2018 – March 1, 2018
The site used to be house at blogs.office.com but they wanted to use the URL microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/ so we helped support a system that would allow Akamai to call down to the WP Engine site which meant links and content had to reflect the microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/ url not the WP Engine one. I built a system to buffer the content of the site (including AJAX requests) and use REGEX patterns to replace all the links on the site with the new URL's when Akamai was present.
Office Blogs & Neutralization (Microsoft 365)
November 1, 2017 – February 1, 2018
Was pulled into this project (a current one) at WebDevStudios to support and help finish/build out the final pieces of the "neutralization" system that helps the site operators translate content through WordPress. Major fixes and debugging and improvements to performance made. Unit tests also written for testing the complex system used to distribute translated posts to a large number of sites in the multisite network.
Cambium Networks Migration
August 1, 2017 – October 1, 2017
Migration of wide-range of content from exported JSON files from previous CMS into WordPress including attachments. All written to work as a wp-cli command that can be ran on WP Engine w/out any timeout issues. Completed a mapping document, wrote the plugin to facilitate the migration, ran the migration in staging and production environments, as well as troubleshooted any issues coming from QA.

Thwarted ongoing hacking and attacks of their current site; secured it down and cleaned it up. Support for helping abused partners in relationships utilize the site safely, e.g. coded a quick way to use the ESC key to exit the site quickly and cleaning all tracks of use, etc.

PuffPastry.com (Campbells Soup Company)
May 1, 2016 – September 1, 2016
Various backend and frontend custom coding. Recipe importer: The puffpastry.com offers a company wide API of all the products offered so we built a client that would sync with that API by request and create and categorize content based on findings from the API. ExactTarget Integration: I built out an ExactTarget API integration that would sync user input for recipe reminders/subscriptions to the Salesforce/ExactTarget API.

RYDE Website
October 1, 2014 – Present
Released another site for RYDE, Houston’s Premier Indoor Cycling. The site has been one of the most simplest Websites I’ve built at Excion. It featured a simple sterile-like design, two-tone colors and custom fonts. Built with the minimization of color in mind, you won’t see a lot when you visit the site, but that’s the aim. The WordPress theme was built from scratch as the client voice that he wanted to code to be as lean as possible. So, in order to keep any bloat out of the way, we didn’t go with a theme platform and the whole theme runs off just index.php, functions.php, and style.css. The site also featured a responsive design with a slide in menu to make it look as app like as possible. The whole site integrates with the Zingfit service and the Zingfit sites were all integrated with our theme and the look between the marketing and Zingfit sites are seamless. Their platform was built on Bootstrap and I was able get the two to work harmoniously.
RapidMapper
September 1, 2013 – Present
Build a customized WordPress based site for the St. Charles RapidMapper product with email marketing and SEO plugins. Excion & Kids Activity Marketplace
February 1, 2012 – Present
I spent my time at Excion helping Shawn and his team take a small startup company into the world of Web Design & Development. In order to keep the business going we worked on a number of projects helping clients build full blown WordPress Websites and applications. We then started work on re-launching a product, previously called CalendarCruncher, as it was intended to be, a kids marketplace for activities. Shawn and his team have a passion for fatherhood, and while trying to make a site that catered to Dads, they ended up with a bloated and unfinished product that got off track. We have been working for months on a new WordPress-based application that aims to server families and activity providers worldwide.

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project history shows a strong focus on WordPress and related ecosystems, with a consistent track record across various agencies and companies. The diversity of projects, from large enterprise migrations to custom application development, indicates adaptability. However, the target role is 'Frontend Developer,' and while the candidate has frontend experience, a significant portion of their recent roles and projects lean heavily into full-stack or backend WordPress engineering. This might require a clear understanding of their current frontend proficiency and interest in a dedicated frontend role. The career break for 'personal goal pursuit' and 'disagreements about the quality of AI and LLM's' could indicate a strong opinionated stance, which might be a cultural fit depending on the team dynamics.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's project descriptions indicate a proactive approach to learning new technologies (e.g., ElasticPress/Search) and a willingness to tackle complex problems. Experience in mentoring and leading projects suggests strong collaboration and leadership potential. The career break description highlights a focus on continuous skill development and a desire for quality, which could align well with a team valuing craftsmanship.
