Data Engineer | Distributed Systems
I’m a data engineer working on data infrastructure and distributed data systems. Outside of work I explore machine learning systems, LLM tooling, and agentic development workflows through independent projects and experiments. Recent work includes: * GitGym: an interactive CLI platform for learning Git built using autonomous coding loops with Claude Code * Writing about agentic engineering workflows and AI tooling * Experiments implementing transformer architectures in JAX / Equinox Blog: https://enerrio.bearblog.dev

Built an open-source interactive CLI platform for learning Git using a spec-driven autonomous coding workflow. Designed an agent loop around Claude Code with an external task plan and scoped iterations, enabling the project to complete dozens of development tasks and generate hundreds of tests with minimal human intervention.
Analysis of Fatal Police Shootings
July 1, 2018 – January 1, 2019
Using data collected by The Washington Post, performed extensive data analysis and created interactive visualizations using Jupyter, Pandas, and Plotly. Data is a collection of fatal police shootings across America starting in 2015.
Author Identification with Deep Learning
October 1, 2017 – October 1, 2017
Public Kaggle Kernel that uses natural language processing techniques, word2vec, and data visualization to classify text and teach others about natural language processing techniques and deep learning architectures in the context of NLP problems. The dataset is a collection of short text with 3 authors (Mary Shelley, H.P. Lovecraft, and Edgar Allen Poe) as possible labels.
Kaggle Competition: Personalized Medicine: Redefining Cancer Treatment
August 1, 2017 – October 1, 2017
Used various natural language processing techniques combined with assorted neural network architectures to classify genetic mutations based on medical text. Used spaCy for text preprocessing and cleaning, Doc2Vec for word embeddings, and keras for deep learning. Wrote data visualization code using matplotlib and seaborn. Placed in the top 9% of final leaderboard.
Athena
August 1, 2016 – May 1, 2017
Seizure monitoring wearable device that upon detection disables the appliances in a home, sends text/email to caretaker, and logs user activity on a website. The seizure detection system has three main components: 1. Wearable device: Wrist-worn device that monitors for tonic clonic seizures. 2. Website: Cloud database where user can view time of seizure, sensor data, type of alarm, etc. 3. Appliance shutoff: Circuit that controls shutting off ( and on) appliances. Our team presented the mathematics behind our seizure detection algorithm at the NorCal Undergraduate Mathematics Conference at SSU on March 25th, 2017

Cultural Fit Analysis
The candidate's project diversity, ranging from open-source CLI tools to deep learning competitions and wearable devices, indicates a strong curiosity and passion for technology beyond their core job responsibilities. Their experience in both large enterprises (Capital One, Meta) and startups (AMWI.AI) suggests adaptability to different work environments. The target role of 'Data Analyst' aligns well with their foundational data analysis and visualization skills, although their recent experience leans more towards Data Engineering and Data Science, which could be an overqualification or a slight mismatch in day-to-day tasks depending on the specific analyst role's depth.
Soft Skills & Operational Fit
The candidate's experience in leading design, coordinating cross-departmental logistics, and authoring technical documentation suggests strong communication and collaboration skills. Their work on automated data-quality systems and regional failover runbooks indicates a proactive and detail-oriented approach to operational excellence. The diverse project background also points to adaptability and problem-solving capabilities.
